About the Album
Fu Lai is a Mandarin-English trap album written over five years and recorded between Atlanta and Paris, with sessions at Patchwerk Recording Studios. The album moves between hedonism, grief, addiction, and ambition, told through two voices—Yudes and his sharper, mythic self, Fu Lai. The sound blends East and West without trying to fuse them. Some tracks are in Mandarin, some in English, and some move between both. The story starts with ego and control (Chinese Rap 666, Local Accent), then slips into contradiction and confusion (Black & White, Sweet ’n Low, Fly U Out). The middle of the album (Phoenix to Dopesick) hits crisis mode—rebirth fantasies, death drive, emotional collapse. By Halo, the energy breaks. Dopesick feels like a funeral. The final track (Heartache) is quiet, stripped of performance. No posturing, no persona. Just regret, memory, and loss. The album was built like a single mind unraveling and trying to make it to the other side.
